Bachata footwork: Svetlana Ovchinina
Svetlana Ovchinina from the Danceliker Dance School in Moscow has made a series of 10 rather unique Bachata videos. She dances solo doing advanced footwork exercises. Great to practice at home to get a better feel for the music and the dance. Video lesson 10 is from February 2018.
Bachata Sensual has reduced the complex footwork of Dominican Bachata to the most simple 1-2-3-tap, 5-6-7-tap. Even the once so characteristic hip movement when tapping is no longer there, the tap is reduced to just a tap, often hardly noticeable.
The videos of Svetlana Ovchinina are great inspiration. In Bachata Sensuael both Lead and Follow are allowed to spice up their steps when appropriate. If nothing else, the videos of Svetlana Ovchinina are good exercises for footwork and body movements.
In every single video, I find at least one small detail, I as a Lead would like to steal for my own dance!
