El Suave (The Soft) is an elegant move attributed to Maykel Almuina from the Salsa Lovers DVD, and it really is “Maykel” style. It is not a typical Cuban Salsa move. It is nice when dancers try something a little different. Get inspired or let it go. I like the “softness” of the myatushi55 version of “The Soft” move (El
Read moreThe Siete Locomotion move is from “Media Noche Salsa”, created by Doron Pe’er, the Lead in the first video. I have only found one other video with this move. There are a lot of turns and changing hands, and for that reason it is a good move for training leading and follow: I like the video by “myatushi55”. The original
Read moreLa Cuadra has different meanings like block, stable, barracks. I am not sure of what translation makes most sense for a name of a move. The La Cuadra move is a typical complicado with several elements we know from other complicados. There are surprisingly many videos out there, so it must be quite popular. La Cuadra comes with two alternative
Read moreThe “Three Way Stop” is a good move for training because the Lead really must be up to the task to get it going. We don’t have many formalized moves using this technique of turning the Follow by her shoulders. It is a great technique in social dancing and ought to be in the toolbox of any advanced Lead. We

The video from “Dolce Dance” in Hungary deserves to be shown first. It is cute. Note that Lead and Follow change hands at the start, and that most of the move is two handed: Same video at YouTube:

The beginning

The move requires that the Follow’s left hand is available for the Lead over her right shoulder easy

The classic Cuban Salsa (Miami style) move Siete Moderno is one of many similar dubious Miami style Siete/Panqué moves. Looks easy and convincing but they don’t work that well in social dancing. Mainly because Siete/Panqué is a basic figure that turns the Follow in and out in a rectangular slot. It is not in the DNA of such a figure
Read moreThe move Siete con Coca-Cola is on the surface a lovely intermediate move, “easy” and seemingly very popular. At least we can find many videos demonstrating the move on YouTube. But it is a problematic social move because it is difficult for the Lead to lead it properly. It works in Rueda de Casino because the Follow is supposed to
Read moreIt is no surprise that Abanico Complicado comes in several good versions, only the end of the move being different. Three of the versions deserve to be in the repertoire of a Salsero at advanced level. Nice that you can choose which ending to use, depending on music, your mood and on how well the Follow is doing. A closer
